Today is Maundy Thursday, traditionally the day when Christians remember the Last Supper, and each Communion celebration is a copy of this event. But many churches also remember another of the events of that evening - when Jesus washed the disciple's feet. It was a common occurence at that time, when people walked the dusty roads, but it was usually done by servants. It is sometimes repeated by dignatories as a sybol of serving others.
This year many are unable to attend this service, but there is nothing to stop us showing service.
Then there is the other side - accepting service - which some ,like Peter in the story, find difficult to do.
I have experienced both of these in the last couple of days, both made me feel better.
